Bear Goes To School

The students enjoyed playing with Bear at recess. He is very well behaved and obeys several commands. Thanks for coming to visit us at MVCA; we hope to see you again soon!

Gifts From the Legion Auxiliary

Missouri Valley Christian Academy received several special items from the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. List and Mrs. Kupfer visited MVCA and presented these items to the students. The donated gifts included many educational materials as well as playground equipment. MVCA says, "THANK YOU!!" for these items!

All Aboard!!

The students and staff of MVCA ventured to the headquarters of the Missouri Valley Model Railroad Association in downtown Yankton. Mr. Bob Mason was our host and he shared his passion of model railroading with us. He gave a detailed tour of all the model trains on display pointing out the unique landscapes, buildings, etc. that complimented the locomotives. The kids and adults were very engaged in the subject matter during this field trip!! Thank you Mr. Mason for sharing your time and enthusiasm with us!!

Can a Question Answer a Question?

Am I sufficiently sharing with my students the love and passion I have for my Heavenly Father and His Word?

For me, this question was answered by a question this week. In third grade we have been studying the Tabernacle. Our curriculum jumped around a bit. One day we looked only at scripture dealing with the physical attributes while the next day we looked at scripture focusing on the different sacrifices offered. So, we overlooked big chunks of passages that did not pertain to these two topics. As class came to a close one student asked, "May I take my Bible home and read the "stuff" we skipped? I'm afraid I might miss something." The question answering my question! I know I take the passenger seat with the Holy Spirit as the driver in this child's desire to read the Word. But, I would like to think the excitement and enthusiasm I bring to the classroom provides a "suitable soil" for my students to "grow" closer to Him. My answer to her question, "Oh, yes!"

Oh yeah! A slippery sticky mess!

Ready…GO! For a science experiment on Movement, these students timed how long it would take for different substances to travel through the funnel and drain into a bowl. Vegetable oil, pancake syrup, and molasses were all tested. Although most of the students believed that molasses would be the slowest, they were quite surprised about how much extra time it took compared to the pancake syrup.

Note that safety goggles can double as a hairband if no real safety concerns are present :)
