May Chapel

Our May chapel was held yesterday afternoon. The emphasis of this chapel was the partnership between the home, church, and school. The 2nd & 4th graders shared scripture memorization. The K/1st graders blessed us with three patriotic songs. All the students signed "Our Father". The Rev. Robert Grossmann gave the chapel message. After chapel a time of fellowship was enjoyed.

Six New Faces at MVCA

Six new and excited faces walked through our doors this morning. These faces belonged to our 2010-11 kindergarten students who are visiting MVCA today. They joined our current kindergarten student and have had a morning jam packed with book making, stories, puppets, recess, etc. Phew...they will go home exhausted!! We look forward to having them all day, every day this fall.

PS...You may ask what happened to the current first graders?? Don't worry ~ they got kicked out and up to Miss Brand't room and are doing "BIG" second grade activities for the morning.

Archery Winners

MVCA was represented very well in the archery contest held last night at the Easton Sports Development Center. The contest was the final event for the after-school archery program held each Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Congratulations to our students!

Two of our fourth grade students placed in the American Legion Auxiliary writing contests ~ 3rd place (essay) and 2nd place (poetry). The theme was, "Our Patriotic Duty as United States Citizens". The contest was open to all 4th graders in the Yankton area. Congratulations to our winnters!

Classroom Visitors in K-1

One of the first grade students brought four little kittens for show-n-tell this morning. These kittens reside at her grandparents' house. Students enjoyed the snuggle time with these furry babies until the claws became embedded in some skin...OUCH!!

Our Prayers are With You

Today we held a special lunch in honor of Pastor David Gunderson of St. John's Lutheran Church, Yankton. He is the pastor for three of our families and will be leaving this month on a 13-month deployment to Afghanistan with the National Guard. Unfortunately, Pastor Dave was unable to be with us due to an emergency.
We wish YOU the best and will keep YOU and the soldiers in our prayers.
God Bless!
