Countdown to Christmas

Tis the Season for Countdown to Christmas! Everyday we have something new planned for the students to help countdown the days until Christmas.
Monday Mr. Forbes started off our countdown with the reading of The Legend of the Candy Cane. Each student received a candy cane.

Tuesday each grades shared Christmas Jokes. The Kindergartner's joke for the office was : What do you get if you cross an apple with a Christmas tree? A pineapple!
Wednesday each student received a personalized note from their teachers
Thursday was a hit with Snowflake making! The students enjoyed making snowflakes from paper and coffee filters.

Friday was a special activity. Parents wrote personal messages to all of their children. The students enjoyed receiving a surprise note from their parents.

Next week will be filled a new surprise each day!

Rainy Day

It was a heavy, dreary, rainy day at MVCA. As a result recess was indoors. The students came up with creative ways to keep busy!

The boys played a competitive game of Checkers!

Others tested their knowledge of the States and Capitals while putting together a US puzzle!

Finding fun in creating works of art!

Worm Inspection

The kindergarten students wanted to inspect the worms composting in the 1st/2nd grade classroom.  Because of the smell the inspection needed to take place outdoors!  It is amazing the things they eat...one kindergarten student wanted to know if they get a tummy ache.  Nope!  God has specially designed the worms to do this interesting and wonderful job.

Service Project to End Christian Education Week

We started Christian Education Week with a blizzard and ended the week with a wonderful, warm day cleaning Deer Blvd. leading to Riverside Acres. The students, staff, and parents spent Friday afternoon in the ditches with rubber gloves on the hands and garbage bags in the hands. Twenty large bags were collected along with other items too big for a bag. So, what "treasures" do you find along a busy stretch of a county road...a dead cat, a live cat, dead birds, Hannah Montana pillow, princess knee pad, 1/4 of a dollar bill, golf ball, bouncy ball, baseball, a filled out check, bones, and numerous car parts.  It was a fun afternoon ending with an ice cream treat and WATER at Dairy Queen.
