During the first week of school the 14 students of MVCA drew a picture and signed their name on a block of frabric. The blocks were put together to make this wonderful quilt. This quilt is on display in the hallway next to the K-2nd classrooms. It is a reminder that each child is a unique creation of God, but they are all together children of God.

Hitting the Trail with K-1st
The students in Mrs. Frederick's class are starting a unit on the Iditarod dog sled race in Alaska, which starts on March 6th. The students are graphing the minutes they read outside of class in order to advance their sleds through the 25 checkpoints on the real Iditarod trail. The students will become familiar with a variety of topics from Alaska, dog care, georgraphy, and mushing terminology.

Students and guests also sang a number of hymns and a video was shown based on the book, You Are Special by Max Lucado. February's chapel is scheduled for February 10th at 9am. Please join us.

ACTIVE & ENGAGED LEARNERS
One of the distinctions of MVCA is providing classroom environments that get students involved and participating in their learning. In just two days we have baked corn bread in Heritage Studies, done experiments in Science class, constructed 3-d shapes in Math, and created beautiful music during Centers. Our students are active and engaged in their learning!
